Learning Letter
Dear Sean,
Throughout
this class I have grown significantly in my personal, work, and my educational
life. I truly enjoyed this class, the
friends I met, and the opportunities this class offered me that has overall
shaped me as a soon to be educator. I especially
enjoyed listening to my classmates’ presentations and getting to learn more about
the core content areas, as well as get introduced to new materials and resources
that I can refer to and use when I am teaching my own class. Without this class, I wouldn’t have been introduced
to so many great novels. The content
portfolio project especially helped me reflect on just how beneficial this class
was, as well as helped me organize my thoughts about this class, just how much I
learned, and how I can apply this knew knowledge to my someday classroom. I learned so much helpful information throughout
this course that has impacted me and helped me improve in all aspects of my
life. Although I struggled with some of the presentations in this class, I feel
that through these struggles I learned the most. Overall, I came out more confident and prepared
then I was when I started, and this is something I have never achieved from a
class.
This
was the first class where I learned about the Common Core State Standards and how
to apply them to my someday classroom. I
really enjoyed comparing the different grade level standards and learning how I
can allow creative activities to fit these standards. I also really enjoyed the reading in the NES
textbook. Although some of the information was new, overall the content was a
great refresher as to what all we need to know as educators (in an English
classroom). I think the discussions we had in the class were also very helpful,
it was nice to hear my classmates’ concerns, thoughts, and ideas that arose,
and to know that I wasn’t the only one who had questions.
I
think my participation was a huge contributor to how much I learned in this
class. Not only did I make friends in
this class and learn more about the education program, but I learned so much about
becoming a teacher. Without forming these
bonds, and getting to know the people around me, I wouldn’t have been able to
grow in my confidence and be able to be a part of the discussion. I was more involved in the discussion from
this class because of the inviting and comfortable atmosphere. I think the discussion in this class (and my
participation) truly contributed to how much I have learned this quarter. I have become more confident and have
improved in every aspect of my life, and I feel more confident in my ability to
teach in my someday class.
Thank you fro the opportunity to grow not only educationally, but personally. This class has proved more beneficial to me than I could have imagined.
Thank you,
Hannah Brake
