Blog Post 7

For today’s reading, I found all the information to be extremely helpful to me.  I have yet to take a grammar or linguistics class and so the first 15 pages of the assigned reading in the textbook was new to me.  I especially found this information to be beneficial to my education and expand my personal knowledge of proper grammar.  I appreciated the examples and the pace at which each term was explained.  I thought the way the book examined each term by giving the definition, examples of words and phrases that fall under its category, and then examples of how/where it is used really helped this new information click in my head, even though it was my first time learning it.  Overall, I enjoyed the read, even though it was hefty, it was truly beneficial to me.         I thought the reading in the NES textbook was extremely helpful. Even though it was a lot of reading, I thought the information stated in the text is pivotal to know as a student who is pursuing a teaching career. I especially liked how the book broke down each type of essay students will be expected to learn in school. Not only did they go in depth about how to teach these essays, but also new ways to brainstorm and helpful ways that students can use to better grasp the concept of “how-to” write these specific types of papers.  I especially like how on page 93 of the NES textbook (towards the beginning of the assigned reading), the book broke down all the necessities for students to fully understand how to write. They went back to the basics of verbs, nouns and adjectives, all the way down to the structure of sentences.
